Every vehicle rented from Aurora Car Rental Iceland comes with full comprehensive insurance — included in the daily rate. No upsells. No surprises at pickup.
🛡️ OC — Third-Party Liability
Mandatory coverage required by Icelandic law. Covers damage or injury caused to other people and their property.
🏥 PAI — Personal Accident Insurance
Covers you and your passengers in the event of an accident. Medical costs and personal injury protection included.
🚗 CDW — Collision Damage Waiver
Reduces your financial liability if the vehicle is damaged in a collision. Included as standard — no optional upgrade required.
⭐ SCDW — Super CDW (Zero Excess)
Zero excess for all 4WD vehicles. If the car is damaged, you pay nothing toward the repair cost. Maximum peace of mind.
🪨 GP — Gravel Protection
Essential in Iceland. Covers windscreen chips, headlight damage, and paintwork damage caused by flying gravel on Icelandic roads.
🔒 TP — Theft Protection
Covers the vehicle in the event of theft or attempted break-in. You are protected for the full replacement value.
⚠️ What's NOT Covered
The following situations are excluded from all insurance policies:
- River and water crossings — no vehicle in Iceland is insured for river fording
- Tyre and underbody damage — punctures, rim damage, undercarriage
- Interior damage — stains, tears, damage to upholstery
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Off-road driving outside of officially permitted routes (including driving on vegetation)
- Damage during active weather warnings (storm, sandstorm, blizzard alerts)
🔧 Optional Add-on: Tyre Protection
Tyres are not covered by standard insurance in Iceland (this applies across all rental companies). You can add Tyre Protection for 3,000 ISK/day — this covers punctures, blowouts, and rim damage. Recommended if you plan to drive on F-roads or gravel tracks.
